Geek’s recipe 3: The revolution in Taste!

Once, I considered about the new recipe, I wonder what kind of food that I suppose to choose.

It was hard and unending question. However, I once saw the TV show about my hometown’s food.

THE HONGEO SAMHAP..

Isn’t it look’s great and tasty food to eat?? I hope you feel hungry when you see this picture of food. 🙂

Now, let’s see what is on the plate. I can see the pork is on left side of plate and Kimchi on the middle.

Then what do you think on the right side.

I will just tell you the answer. Basically, this food needs 3 different ingredients. Steamed pork, Kimchi, and

 this fish.

It’s English name is skate, it is one of species in ray.

Do you want to know how this   can turn into this ?

First of all, the hongeo samhap (simply samhap) needs to well grown Pork 2~3 lbs, soy source, some soju (Korean alcohol), onion,ginger, dried chili, bay leafs, and garlic.

However, cooking hongeo(cooked skate) and Kimchi is so hard for beginners, I just recommend to buy it from Korean market or visit South Korea. 😉

However, after boiling the water a while you need to put 2 big spoons of soy source, garlic to make soup.

Then you need to put pork in the soup for 6~10 minutes based on the amount of pork.

While the pork is boiling, you need to put the soju inside of soup so that it can bring more tastes and soften the pork.

Finally, put it out and slice in size of one bite.

Now put them in this order. Pork, Kimchi ,and hongeo.

That’s it.

Now try it and feel the taste is started from your nose, mouth, eyes, and stomach. The revolution will starts in your mouth.

Anyhow, I can guarantee that once you eat this food, then you will want to kill me for introduced this food. (Maybe?)

Hi, everyone long time no see.

It’s been a week after first posting.

Today, I’ll introduce you some traditional British recipe to you.

Fortunately, today’s recipe is not nasty or particularly strange, it is Yorkshire pudding.

The traditional British food that originated from England Yorkshire the place with natural beauty.

‘The God’s own county’ it is the nickname of Yorkshire.

Like the nature of this region this pudding only requires egg, milk, flour, salt, and oil to cook.

Also what we need to do for cook this pudding is simple,

Nevertheless, this Yorkshire pudding is much similar with bread unlike it’s name includes a word ‘pudding’.

When you eat this pudding, at first you will say “ahh.. it just a tasteless bread”.

However, traditionally this food designed for eat together with meat or sauces like gravy.

According the oldest recipe of yorkshire pudding in “The Whole Duty of a Woman” 1737

this pudding designed to bake while meat roasted in oven.

It said ‘Make a batter as for pancakes’.

You see this? It is not a pudding!!

Isn’t it strange? What is the purpose of this pudding at first?

Perhaps at the very beginning of this pudding was failure of pancake or bread.

After 10 years later from 1737 the woman english cookery writer Hannah Glasse published a book

After all, she introduced this strange pudding as “exceeding good pudding, the gravy of the meat eats well with it”.

As a cookery writer Hannah’s popularity was highest one to British people,

Until 20th century Yorkshire pudding’s popularity was covered whole England

and Yorkshire pudding was been loved by British people as lunch meal.

However, the increased demands of convenience food let the world be known a Yorkshire pudding.

Fast, easiness to bake, and plain flavor made Yorkshire pudding to be useful food for busy men and women.

Until now, this strange pudding is one of top famous British food in this world.
